TAXCO - THE SILBER TOWN
Situated right in the Sierra Madre and about two hours from Mexico City is the Silver City Taxco. Silver is not mined any more, but there are plenty of shops and factories, where beautiful and for the region typical silver jewelry is offered.
The colonial houses that line the narrow streets are decorated in white and are surmounted by the Santa Prisca church on the Zocalo which was once donated by a silver baron.
Not far from Taxco are the Caves of Cacahuamilpa. The 2 km deep limestone cave is definitely worth a visit.
Mextrotter recommendation for a pre-programme in Taxco
- Private transfer from the airport to Taxco
- Rental car to explore the surrounding area
- Ideal to combine with a visit of Lake Tequesquitengo
