Day 1 – Arrival
Our driver will expect you at Cancun Airport. Please look out for the sign with your name on it. You will be brought into your hotel in Playa del Carmen or Riviera Maya. The transfer should take approx. 40 to 60 minutes.
Day 2 – Tulum, Bacalar, Chicanna
At 9 o’clock in the morning you will take the comfortable minibus southwards. Your destiny is the most beautifully located Mayan site of the peninsular Yucatan. The fortress of Tulum is located on a rock above the turquoise blue Caribbean Sea. After the visit you will make your way in two hours to the beautiful lagoon of Bacalar. There you will have lunch (not included in price). In the afternoon you will reach Chicanna where you will be staying in a jungle lodge. Enjoy the evening at the hotel pool with a cool Corona beer.
Day 3 – Calakmul, Palenque
The Mayan site of Calakmul does not belong to the very touristy sites. However, it impresses the visitor by its originality. The huge cult site which is one of the biggest in the Mayan world is located in the middle of a jungle. Afterwards you will be driving to Palenque which is already located in the federal state of Chiapas. There you will have a hotel in the jungle where you can have a bath in the pool.
Day 4 – Palenque, Agua Azul
After a rich breakfast from the buffet, you will be going to the Mayan site Palenque. The site impresses the visitor especially because of the Temple of inscriptions and because of the palest, which was built by King Pakal and his son in the 7th century. During these times, Palenque dominated huge parts of Chiapas and Guatemala. In the afternoon you will have the possibility to swim in the waterfalls of Agua Azul. The cascades crave for kilometers through the rain forest. If you prefer, you can also relax in your hotel in the afternoon.
Day 5 – Campeche
Before lunch you will be going the Gulf Coast. After approx. four hours of driving you will reach a restaurant at the beach where you will have the opportunity to enjoy fresh seafood. Passing Champoton you will make your way to Campeche in about an hour. In the pretty colonial town you will be brought into your hotel in the historic center. Afterwards you and your guide will visit the Colonial Pearl which belongs to the World Cultural Heritage.
Day 6 – Uxmal, Merida
Day 7 – Izamal, Chichen Itza
Located about an hour away from Merida you will find one of the most beautiful and best preserved convents of colonial times. After the visit, the journey continues to Chichen Itza, a must for every Yucatan tour. Before you will arrive in Valladolid in the evening, you will have the possibility to visit a Cenote (Natural Water-well) to get all freshened-up.
Day 8 – Rio Lagartos, Caribbean Beach
On the last day of your tour you will visit a place hardly anyone goes to, but that is definitely worth a visit. In the Rio Lagartos National park one can observe many birds, mainly flamingos in their natural habitat, a wonderful experience. After this you can eat some wonderful fish before you will be brought to your beach hotel.
PROGRAM AFTER YOUR TOUR
After the Yucatan tour we recommend a prolongation of your vacation (from 3 to 5 days) at one of the countless white sandbeaches of the Caribbean in order to relax and digest the impressions of the journey.
- GOOD AND AFFORDABLE > show
- CABAÑAHOTELS (small resorts in bungalow style) > show
- ALL-INCLUSIVE-RESORTS > show
Especially for this trip, it is advisable to arrive in Mexico a few days before the actual start of the tour . This gives you the possibility to start your trip to the highlights of the Mayan world completely relaxed. The first night in Cancun no longer applies and you get the transfer directly from the airport to your beach hotel. The price for your trip will be adjusted accordingly (see travel configuration). After the tour, you can round off your holiday in Mexico with a couple of days at the beach. During your Yucatan tour you can even store luggage at our office; for a small fee we will send our representative to you to pick up the luggage.

When is the best time to travel to Mexico?
You can travel to Mexico throughout the whole year. As a traveller you are probably a bit worried about the rainy season spoiling the pleasure of your travel. As Europeans you may associate rain with wind, coolness, damp weather and staying inside your house. However, this is different in Mexico.
First of all, during the rainy season in Mexico it seldom rains during the day; it mainly rains during the night. The rain falls down as short, strong showers and it hardly cools down the country: it remains warm. For all these reasons, we recommend you not to plan your trip to Mexico solely on the basis of the rainy season. However, if you still do not want to travel around during the rainy season, you can best do so from November to March.
How do I pay at Mextrotter? Are credit cards accepted?
(Within the EU) at no cost to you. Credit card payments can only be charged via the online service of paypal; The fee of 4.5% invoiced to us will be passed on to you in full.
PARTICULAR CAUTION when arriving to Cancun, why?
Unfortunately, the airport at Cancun is known for the mean tricks of taxi and transfer shuttle drivers. These "pirates" often recruit customers from tour operators, and charge the cost of the transfer with the excuse that it will be reimbursed the next day by the tour guide. The false transfer drivers proceed very professionally, and they usually conspire with the hotel staff, who illegally inform them of their customers' arrival dates.
If you have any suspicions, please make sure to call our emergency number, or the number of our transfer coordinator in Cancun (you can find the number on your transfer voucher). In case you are the victim of a transfer pirate, you should certainly not pay the bill. We want to point out that expenses of this kind will not be refunded by Mextrotter.
What costs should I calculate per day (food, drinks)?
Be aware that the price level in Mexico is approximately 40% lower than in Europe. In other words: food and drinks cost about half the price (excluding table wine, which is quite expensive in Mexico). A guide for personal meal expenses could be 15 to 30 Euro per person per day. The exact amount you spend per day depends on your drinking and eating habits.
